Aheading to Huelva!

This year, Colombia will be guest in the 37th Iberoamerican Film Festival of Huelva.

Among almost 150 colombian projects registered to access to the 12th edition of the Co-producer forum inside the festival, Chicken Heart was one of the 11 projects selected to be part ot the meeting.

synopsis

Pintao and Albino are two chickens born from the same egg. They ran away from the shed that has always been their whole world looking for freedom. Pintao runs into Joaquin, a well known person in the cockfighting world that will change his life forever involving him into this hostile environment while Albino´s destiny, who will fall inevitably into the wild food industry melts with Sebastian’s, through a fantasy world that will test his most feared feelings. The story of five hearts dominated by strong feelings bonding between them where love has different shapes and pain is closer than it seems.

Chicken Heart’s project was born from different interests and discussions between its two creators and directors, Juan and Maria. It started as a short film and continuously grew up until it became a long animated film due to the complexity of the stories and the richness of its characters. In addition to the original team, other friends form different backgrounds, joined the project aimed to contribute and have been working on it ever since.

María Arteaga · Direction and Animation

Graphic designer graduated from National University of Colombia, with 10 years of experience in animation projects. She worked as a drawer in an animated series made by Teleset, experience that made her founding her independent producer agency, Impala, in 2003. Until now she has designed and produced different projects such as personal work, TV ads, multimedia and Internet applications and she’s been awarded for some of her work. She also has dictated conferences about animation, been part of jury in different scholarships and graduated projects and in 2005, she won a scholarship along with her team to start her last project, a short film Corte Electrico that won international rewards.

Juan Cortés · Direction and Writing

Visual anthropologist graduated from National University of Colombia with more than 8 years of experience as director, cameraman and video editor of different TV formats. He has worked in many TV productions for national and international channels such as BBC, MTV, Al Jazeera and RCN Colombia, in documentary and fiction audiovisuals fields. He has also worked in social research with young and adult groups, in urban, country and ethnic backgrounds emphasizing in communication and media.

Manuela Urrego · Production and Communications

Anthropologist graduated from National University of Colombia with a Master degree in Qualitative Research and Communication Sciences at La Sapienza University of Rome, an academic specialization in social evaluation projects at the Andes University and othe related studies arround Cultural Industry. With six years of experience in communications and social projects a in the national and international level, such as her participation at comunication strategies at the second version of the Rome"s International Film Festival. Currently she teaches social Communications and journalism and works as a consultant and specialist of evaluating projects.

Paula Carrasco · Production and Communications

Graphic designer graduated from National University of Colombia, with 10 years of experience in different areas of communications and design. She worked for 5 years in advertising agency Leo Burnett Colombia, developing campaigns for different clients. She studied a postgraduate course in Creativity and Advertising as part of the Strategic and Communications master in Barcelona at Pompeu Fabra IDEC where she acquires experience and skills in these areas. On her return to Colombia, she continued on developing and learning from strategy and communications in a well-known Communication Consultant Company where she was director of the design department, creating visual and communications languages for different clients. Thanks to her high skills in French and English language, she has been working at the Iberoamerican Theatre Festival for more than 10 years as translator. Currently she works independent as a designer and consultant for communications and graphic projects.

Lina Ruiz · Finances

Business administrator from Fundación Universitaria San Martin with 8 years of experience as planner and project manager. The last 5 years she has worked as general manager at different companies. In parallel, she has been doing some planning consulting in heatlh, education and advertising field projects, advising the legal process for the creation of some companies. In the cinematrographic field, she was the financial director of the International awarded shortfilm directed by Maria Arteaga, Corte Electrico. Currently she created her own company which she manages along with some planning and managment consulting.

Doris Castellanos · International Representant

With a degree in Anthropology at the Andes University, and a Master degree in Translation and Intercultural Studies at the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona, she worked during six years at the Ministry for Culture as an adviser. With experience in international negotiation trade agreements on cultural industries, she participated in the drafting of the preparatory document for the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Cultural Expressions Diversity (UNESCO). Currently she works as an independent consultant on cultural diversity and youth, and develops a project to promote reading for children and young people in Barcelona and Bogota.
